Hong Kong Music Fair 2010 20/3/2010 - 23/3/2010 The Hong Kong Music Fair is organized by IFPI (Hong Kong Group) Limited in collaboration with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) since the year 2006. Its purpose is to provide music business matching between the many sectors connected with the recording industry for mutual prosperity. Each year, HKMF provides a thematic approach for example SME business match and Talent Showcase. While the world is undergoing fast technological development in communication and the ways to connect people, the music industry has not reaped such benefits successfully and it is still faced with the negative impact of widespread un-authorised file sharing on the networks. Music sales had spiraled down globally for the decade. Hong Kong is hard hit too. The industry believes that it needs to move forward and face the challenge by all means. While this situation is brought by advancement in technology, solutions may come from technology and innovations too. Some are already showing signs and promise of success. It is what this year's Hong Kong Music Fair is all about and will explore by inviting experts in the business to share their experience and methods in how to advance the music business under current social, economic and legal environment. HKMF had been organized on 22nd March, 2010 at Hall 3C, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the two seminars are designed for solutions findings. Access is free of charge and all those connected with the music industry and all those having interest to attend are welcome.

The aim echoes that of Seminar 1. It is common belief that un-authorised file sharing may not be contained or reduced in the nearest future through global solutions like education and legislative means, albeit these are very important development to re-activate large scale investment into music. The seminar is dedicated to finding solution available to the business investors in music creation and platform building. The goal is to help building and equipping the recording industry to come back in a new shape that would beneficial to all. Let’s face it, the recording industry turnover has been vastly reduced to just a quarter of what it used to be. The hope is for the online music business and other revenue streams to reduce or even overcome the losses. Let’s explore the means available to us and to envisage the timeline for the turning point.
