The IFPI Hong Kong Group held a members’ forum yesterday, 26th August, 2008, on matters related to the withdrawal of memberships from 4 active record companies, namely, (in alphabetical order, EMI Group Hong Kong Limited, Sony BMG Music Entertainment (Hong Kong) Ltd, Warner Music HK Ltd, Universal Music Ltd and its subsidiaries.

There were no less than 35 members, ranging from those who founded the HK Group to newly admitted members, local major record companies and independent producers participated in the meeting.

The Chairman introduced the newly elected Committee to fill the vacancies left comprising:

Mr. Chan Fai Hung   (Gold Label Typhoon)
Mr. Colin Cheung (WorldStar Music Int’l Ltd).
Ms. Flora Kwong (WOW Music Ltd.)
Mr. Herman Ho (Star Entertainment (Universe) Ltd).

The meeting proceeded smoothly with active participation from the members present in the forum with positive notes. The members voiced

  • The continued support of the IFPI (Hong Kong Group) Limited and all the Groups functions
  • The unanimous support of the Chairman Ng Yu and other Committee members to drive the Group to promote common interest of the Hong Kong recording industry in all fronts to the next level, including legislative matters, anti-piracy, rights administration, market access, public awareness and better communication with the counterparts in China. The Chairman invited members to express views on any new business paradigms in response to technological change.
  • Encourage higher participation by members in the running of the Association.
