The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (Hong Kong Group) Limited (IFPI (Hong Kong Group) is pleased to announce today at the press launch of the Hong Kong Asian-Pop Music Festival (HKAMF 2014), the 4th consecutive event since the year of 2011, with Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government as the leading sponsor, and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) as collaborator. The event will be held on the 28th March, 2014 at the prestigious Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The HKAMF continues its tradition in engaging the cream performers of popular music, as well as budding recording stars from seven countries/territories in Asia, namely the Mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and the host city Hong Kong. Each budding artiste will compete for the HKAMF 2014 Super Nova Award, as well as the HKAMF 2014 Best Vocal Performance Award and the HKAMF 2014 Best Stage Performance Award. The theme of HKAMF 2014 continues to be “Music In One Asia”.

HKAMF 2014 is a star dusted event. IFPI (Hong Kong Group) is proud in having the following superstars to showcasing their performance at the event, namely: Zhang Wei , TABISIHAN TASIKEN from “The Voice of China” - Mainland China, Kenji Wu from Taiwan, Noriko Sakai from Japan, Suengri from the Big Bang from Korea, Tanya Chua from Singapore, Eric Moo from Malaysia and Miriam Yeung from Hong Kong. With the support by music industry associations from respective countries/territory as well as the independent selection panel to select the contestants, the contestants are: QUAN ZHENDONG from Mainland China, Hans Tsou from Taiwan, TarO&JirO from Japan, N-SONIC from Korea, Ming Bridges from Singapore, Bell “a.k.a. Bell宇田” from Malaysia and J.Arie from Hong Kong.

IFPI (Hong Kong Group) is pleased to have the following celebrities from the seven participating countries/territories to form the adjudication panel. They are Mr. Wangju from Mainland China, Mr. Eric Kwok from Hong Kong, Miss Kay Huang from Taiwan, Mr. Taku Takahashi from Japan, Mr. Hwang Sei-Joon from Korea, Mr. James Kang from Singapore and Mr. Norman Abdul Halim from Malaysia.

In addition to the awards to be selected by professionals, HKAMF 2014 will organise a sponsored independent award to be presented at the event, the “WeChat Popular Performer Award”, which will be voted by the audience via mobile phone application on site.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee of HKAMF 2014 Mr. NG Yu expressed at the press conference that this regional mega event had so far been receiving tremendous attention from the public. Such was only made possible under the support of Create Hong Kong, sponsors, partners and the artiste community. The Organising Committee had relentlessly sought to build the festival by inviting superstar performer from each of the 7 countries/territories to showcase to the Hong Kong audience such live performance in excellence, and with budding recording artistes to engage in a friendly competition for cultural cross-flow. He envisioned that HKAMF would become the platform for music exchange to promote Asian music culture, to foster artistic and performance advancement for up and coming new artistes. All such will continue in building up Hong Kong as a key city for Asian Popular Music.

CreateHK of the Hong Kong SAR Government continues to be the leading sponsor of the HKAMF for the fourth consecutive year. Mr. Wellington Fung, Assistant Head of CreateHK, said at the press conference, “CreateHK is grateful to the IFPI (Hong Kong Group) for organizing the Festival, which has become an annual signature event of the local, and even Asia’s music industry. CreateHK has also sponsored another music-related project last year, namely ‘Microfilm Production Support Scheme (Music)’, which was overwhelmingly welcomed by the trade. In view of the success, we will work with the industry to launch more projects for the further development of Hong Kong’s music sector.”

HKAMF 2014 continues to distribute free tickets to the public in Hong Kong. Members of the public may register on line at during the period commencing from 10 a.m. on 11th March 2014 to the end of 13th March, 2014. On completion of this process, a computer random draw of 1650 winners to be witnessed by auditors of Patrick Wong C.P.A. Limited will be conducted. The result will be published on The Standard and Sing Tao Daily on 19th March, 2014, as well as on Winners may collect 2 tickets each by coming to IFPI (Hong Kong Group) Limited during 22 – 23 March, 2014 from 10 am to 6 pm. A portion of the public free tickets will also be distributed via Tencent’s website, the Hong Kong Entertainment Expo promotion site, as well as on local radio programmes promoting HKAMF2014.

IFPI (Hong Kong Group), in collaboration with Cyberport and designated cinemas, launched the first innovative project “Music in Cinema” in 2013, opening a new page in the digital entertainment industry with the first ever live local music performance broadcasted to cinema audiences. Good news again this year, audiences in Golden Harvest (Citywalk), “the sky” and MCL (Kornhill and Telford) across Hong Kong will be able to enjoy the HKAMF 2014 live performance simultaneously with the audience at HKCEC via Cyberport’s cutting-edge Digital Cinema Exchange (DCX) platform. Free “Music in Cinema” event tickets will be available at the above-mentioned cinemas starting from 10:00 a.m. on 22nd March, 2014. Two tickets per person will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis while tickets last.

A business forum under the theme “New Business Models for Music in Asia,” will be held, March 27, 11am, at the HKCEC, room S221. “The HKTDC is pleased to be organising this forum and to be supporting the pop-music industry.” “Overseas and local multimedia experts will explore sales channels and the new media in the music industry. The speakers will also discuss the new opportunities offered by the social media across Asia,” said HKTDC Director, Service Promotion, Jenny Koo.

The Hong Kong Asian Pop Music Festival 2014 is organised by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (Hong Kong Group) Limited. The organiser was pleased to engage Radio Television Hong Kong to host the broadcasting in supplying the programme to all broadcasters. All the more, all major TV broadcasters in Hong Kong, namely TVB, AsiaTV, nowTV, iCable and the newly established RTHKTV 31, and RTHK the radio station will live broadcast the event in Hong Kong. Other local stations supporting the event includes Commercial Radio, Metro Broadcast and U-Radio.

The organiser also has the support of overseas media partners namely Space Shower TV from Japan, MBC+ from Korea, Astro from Malaysia, StarHub from Singapore, Azio and Golden TV from Taiwan, FairChild TV from Canada, with further support from nowTV international and TVB with its international channels namely TVB8, TVBA, World Channel and TVBUSA to carry the programme.

The HKAMF 2014 show is to be held on 28th March 2014 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre Hall 5B &C. It being live broadcast, the show will commence from 7:45 p.m.
